I just wanted to say hello to all. My grandfather was in the V.F.W. in L.A. He passed away a few years and always wanted me to join. The main reason that I am posting this is that I have recently come into the possession of the U.S Army uniforms from my great grandfather in WW I, my grandfather during WW II, my father during Vietnam, and my uniform from Desert Shield/Storm. I would like for people to be able to see them. I was just wondering where anyone has any suggestions.

The point of a Military Funeral, a U.S. folded flag is presented to the next of kin. Now the question: some in our post members say the supporting group (Riflemen, Flag Barriers, Etc) are to be at "present Arms" when the Flag is being presented to the next of kin. I cannot locate this in the Manual of procedures, nor have I ever witnessed this in any process in the past.

I am new to the VFW (less than 18 months) and during this time we have made tremendous improvements to our post and our membership.  We have stopped selling alcohol because the post had a reputation for being a place that only drunks went too and the members have put in about $15000.00 of their own money to make improvements.   The problem that we are having is a life member who has been there for about 15 years.
