Event Description

VFW Post 755 was named after Private Farley Lafore Lock who was a medic during WW1.  He was assigned to the 130TH Infantry which is one of the oldest regiments in the Army, tracing its roots to pre-Revolution French militia in the Northwest Territory and continuous service since.  A Springfield native who was wounded in the battle of second Somme Offensive in France and died the following day. He was cited for bravery in action. Join us for a brief remembrance. Parking at the memorials and we plan to walk about 2 blocks to his marker. Driving is permitted but please allow that for those that can’t walk as parking is limited. Bring poppies or violas too. 2018 will mark the 100th anniversary of his death.
