My VFW WebCOM

In doing some research on my district (2) it has become apparent that somewhere along the way we have lost (as in misplaced) our charter. When talking to National I was told that they could issue me a new one if I could give them a muster in date. My five oldest posts were mustered in between 42 and 46 but none have members alive that remember when the district was formed. Dept. does not know either. Guess I will have to make one up. Any suggestions would be appreciated. One of the most interesting comments from National is that they only have muster in dates on about five districts in NC. Is yours one of these?

District 8's charter is dated 1 Aug 1989 with the statement "Rectroactively to 1939"
Would that mean that the other districts are un-chatered if National does not have them in an archive? And if that were the case how would that apply to the Department?

No it just means that National does not have all the muster dates on file. The Dept was mustered in 1932 I think. Bruce has the actual date and he told me but you know how it is with short term memory.
I have the Diat. 14 Charter. it is dated 9 June 1949

The Department should have that info.

My District (8) charter is on display at each meeting.

It ststes " this First day of August 1989, Retroactively to 1939"
