The Historic Fort Wayne Coalition (HFWC) had just completed their annual event "Civil War Days" on July 11-12.

There were quite a few Michigan veterans that I had the pleasure of speaking with who were inducted into the service at Fort Wayne; many it was their first time back since the 1960's.

It is my hope that, at least through this site, there will be more awareness of Historic Fort Wayne, its condition and what is being done to save it from total loss. Please let your other comrades know about Fort Wayne, or encourage them to "support the Fort". This, literally, is the last, tangible local monument that is a testament to veterans from 6 different wars. If we lose this site, either through disrepair, neglect or inactivity, we will lose what could be a place of healing and reflection to Michigan veterans.

The Historic Fort Wayne Coalition is a 501(c)3 Federal non-profit. Recently, we reached our 1000 volunteer man hour milestone for the second year in a row. We currently have almost 200 members, from all backgrounds from all areas of SE Michigan.

We are in the planning phase of our 2nd annual "Christmas at the Fort". This event in a guided tour through Fort Wayne experiencing Christmas as it was in varous eras from the Civil War to WWII. All of the stops on the tour are representative portryals of actual units garrisoned at Fort Wayne and Detroit civilian over the years. This event had GREAT reviews from last year and I encourage folks to come out and see it this year.

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce myself and my group - Historic Fort Wayne Detroit.

Many men and women worked, stationed and were inducted though this site over many eras. Fort Wayne Detroit faithfully served this country for over 160 years, from 1848-1973.

I currently a member of VFW post 3720 in Swartz Creek, MI and am the Executive Board Secretary of the Historic Fort Wayne Coalition, Inc - 501(c)3. We are a group of determined individuals dedicated to the preservation, promotion and viability of this historically significant site. We are small and our funding is very limited considering the task at hand.
