My VFW WebCOM

I have started using e-membership for paying the dues of annual members through an ach from a small post bank account. I use the same bank account that is used for the automatic dues payout from National. It is working great and sure saves a lot of time and effort and I know that there is not the delay for the member to be counted as having paid. Something to think about as we head towards the close of the year and there are those late annual dues payments to get processed. The guys who work the e-membership were great in helping me get it set up and working out the glitches I encountered. Not only does it save me time but it saves the dues processing department at National the time involved in manually entering the information. I feel anything we can do to assist them helps our organization as a whole. After all we are supposed to be working together.

I sit here with bated breath awaiting the information necessary to perform this feat of wonder myself. My Post does receive payments electronically (ACH) from National.
Being thirty cents short of a quarter & as deaf as the traditional stone I await the written instructions.
Hopefully it will not require any long conversations with bank managers. My bank [Sovereign] now has a new owner. I never learned Hindi, Assamese or even Sanskrit. I am impressed with smiles though!

Don,
This is the address to go to in order to start with e-membership. http://emem.vfw.org/ Sorry but I do not have a clue how to make it a link at this place. If you have any troubles call national and ask for the e-membership dept. They are very helpful.

This is very important since post officers who are NOT Life Members must have their dues paid by the 31st of December or they are automatically out of office on 1 Janurary 2009 and in order to get their office back, they have to be re-elected.

I am sure that all those that are in this group are using e-membership to enroll new members. I am hearing through the "grapevine" that because of retirements and employee reductions in the VFW membership processing department that membership applications sent by snail mail will take a lot longer to process. Please help those Quartermasters that have not established a e-membership account.

I quit using e-membership for paying dues because the last continuous dues I e-membershiped (misspelled) was in April and they waited to apply the charges to my account at the end of August. I still continue to use it for transfers, address changes and death notices. If they really want to make it work the debits will have to be made in a timely manner. I had talked to them on the phone several times trying to get it to work right earlier and was assured that debits were made on the 15th and the end of the month but that is just not true. I won't try again for continuous or re-instates.
Maybe if they quit the "cruises" they would have enough funds to hire enough help. National brought the additional work on themselves with the "direct dues" scheme. It makes my job easier to a degree but I still do not like losing the personal contact and I feel that it has affected membership retention.
