how can i get to be a National Recuirter?

Comment by Iris Joe Kelley on November 30, 2012 at 8:14am

Comrade Fields,

Yes we do have a hard time getting members of MyVFW  Networks here to actively post things.  If you will look at the main page there is a chat that is seldom used but some of us try to speak to whomever is here and start a conversation that way.  There are so many social sites that it is hard to discern the best one to use.  I like this one because things stay and even though it seems the last "post" was several days/weeks/months/old they are still relevant and easily answered and sometimes just replying to one will get the ball rolling once again.  Welcome to the My VFW and hope to hear a lot more from you.

Cheerily

Joe

Mr. Stone - Good luck on getting an answer let alone any feedback regarding your query. I too was and still am trying to get that kind of info. It seems as though National and (the Tennessee Department) want to keep it a big secret. I had thought that signing up for "MyVFW" might get me in touch with others that want to do good things for, by, and through the VFW organization. It appears by the appearance of this web pages record no one is interested in sharing. It is regretable but my experience thus far indicates that there are many that "Talk the Talk" but only a few that "walk the walk" I am sure that by entering this comment I become the proverbial TURD IN THE PUNCHBOWL. I send you my regards and best wishes, Gordon

How do you get to be a National Recuriter?

State Certified Recruiter, District Recruiting Coordinator, have PC will sign anyone up anywhere. Post at 102.5%. Working to help district posts grow their numbers while they do what they do best. I am glad to assist other posts - I am currently helping a MAL comrade on active duty in the Navy at Pearl Harbor find a new post home - and why not? I spent three years there and knew exactly what post was close to home - Col Horace Hickam VFW Post 970 shares a home with a Fleet Reserve Association which is a is a win-win situation for a sailor! Anyway, I am a firm believer in RETENTION that is to say keep who we have on our muster report engaged, informed and interested in what we do as a post. I do not believe that I can stop everyone from leaving out the back door but I certainly do my utmost to find out why they choose to leave. Recruiting for a post here in Hampton Roads VA is a target rich environment with all the Active Duty military here but engaging them is a constant challenge.

I joined this group to network with you all - if you have comrades headed for the Old Dominion I'll help you guide them to a new post home and credit the right person -you. If I have a comrade from VA headed your I ask the same courtesy. We are brothers/sisters/comrades and I am stuck with the idea that our military service sets us apart from those slackers who couldn't do the daily dozen for Uncle Sam much less take the chance of getting one's donkey shot to pieces in some far off desert land or woke up to find one's boat up the wrong creek without a paddle but I digress. I am loyal to our order to the end, I work to keep it strong and I stand by veterans past, present and future so that at least some of the slackers will understand these words when I am gone - "Go tell the Spartans, thou who passes by, that here, obedient to their laws, we lie." Remember us...

Bob,
That sounds like a plan to me. As for us being the best Veterans Organization, all I have to say is HOOYAH!

Set a goal to be 100% by the end of December. With an agressive recruiting drive it is easier to obtain than most think. We can't rely on the mailouts from National to do the job for us. Personal contact with unpaid beginning in October is necessary. Are we getting too lazy to make the personal effort? We are the best Veterans organization in the free world. We do more to help Veterans than any other organization ever thought of doing. We are worth the time and effort. Good luck comrades.

Mark,
Thanks for your comment. I still want 100%...

92% isn't too bad right now, I'm District Commander and half of my Posts are under 92%

All,
Thanks for the comments. I'm going to do some investigating. Since we're supposed to have two (2) National Recruiters in our Post, we should be at 100% membership. Sadly, we are not. Only 92%. That's just not right in my book....
