Tell us about yourself
I am the proud daughter of a WWII Marine who fought and was injured at Peleliu. He was a member of UDT 6. My father has inspired my dedication to improving the quality of life of veterans. I am employed at Old Colony Hospice in Randolph MA as the Volunteer Coordinator and have a successful, award-winning Veteran Volunteer program: the first of its kind in MA. Our Veteran Volunteers provide support and visits to Veterans under the care of our hospice as well as Veterans who are hospitalized at the VA Hospital in Brockton, which is a unique and successful partnership.
We are committed to providing specialized end-of-life care to those who have served in the Military, ensuring that No Veteran Dies Alone. I am especially proud of our Military patch blankets, which provide another layer of comfort to our veterans. We present each veteran with a certificate of Appreciation for their service and a fleece Blanket which has a patch specific to the unit they served with. It is the least we can do to thank those who have served.
Chris,
You should be very proud of your work identifying the History of our Members!
You cannot imagine the interest of the Public with your display on our Poppy Drive yesterday & today! What a wondrous idea!
What was even more a delight was the curiosity of Post Members dropping bye who rarely attend meetings. "Am I there?" WOW! - Who knew? A real attraction for youngsters firmly in the hands of their Moms.
My hat is off to you as your efforts are bringing the members even closer together.
A Bravo Zulu to you, young lady!!
Chris,
Invited your brother to join our site. He might be interested, as an Author and Professor, to read First person comments of men and women who made that one step "beyond."
Reading the profiles of members of this group defy generally accepted concepts of Veterans of Foreign Wars..
Wecome aboard Chris!
You forgot to mention what I consider your most critical effort for veterans of all wars. Your program to assure that "No Veteran Dies alone."
Both you and your Dad are amongst those we can all admire.
