Tell us about yourself
I am an administrator or "one of the web guys" for the VFW WebCOM Network.

I grew up on a dairy farm just outside of Green Bay, Wisconsin. Primary education at Luxemburg-Casco High School. I'm a 1991 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with a B.S. degree in Broadcast Technology Management and minors in Journalism and Business Administration.

I spent five years working in the radio broadcast industry as a reporter and/or on-air news director in several markets in Wisconsin. A move to Pittsburgh, PA in the mid-90s resulted in a change of career to the real estate title insurance industry. I landed in Greensboro, NC in 2001 and have lived here ever since. I joined forces with Policlicks.com LLC in 2004 and immediately became involved with the construction/rollout of the VFW WebCOM network and am just one of a team of folks responsible for the network as you see it today.
Interests and hobbies
An avid reader, blogger, cat-lover and movie fan. I also maintain (if you can call it that...lol) a personal blog at http://www.theothershu.com

My girlfriend and I have four cats including one normal calico, a 3-legged cat, a blue-eyed, all-white deaf cat and a 30-pound Maine Coon monster named Reginald.

A Huge Thank You! National Convention in Photos

On behalf of VFW WebCOM I'd like to publicly thank HF "Rick" House III (Jarhead) and William "Knoot" Knudson for their efforts in helping me capture the 2009 National Convention in photos. Both of these great individuals was kind enough to provide me (and you) with hundreds of great photos of the convention.

To see all of our photos, I suggest you go f… Continue

Network Updates

There were a few network updates that went into place overnight. The two major changes are in the "Members" listing page and in the photo upload area.

The members listing page is fairly self explanatory. Instead of the grid view of members, there is now a top-down listing with more options listed on the right-hand side to allow for friend requests, etc.

The photo upload area has also undergone a major upgrade. Th… Continue

More Chat Improvements on Horizon

There are several upgrades for the chat system on the horizon. Here's a list of the new/improved features from our service provider:

On March 25th, we’re doing a new release of chat to deliver the most requested feature improvements we’ve heard so far from all the great feedback. Here are the highlights:

* You’ll be able to resize the chat pop out. One of the most common requests we’ve heard is to be able to resize the new pop-out view of Chat. With this release, you’ll be able to dynamically… Continue

Update on New Chat

We've been following the progress on software updates on My VFW WebCOM. The latest word is that the new chat features have been delayed slightly to February 23rd. We will also be seeing some upgrades to the embeddable players for photos and videos at that time. Don't forget, you can create a photo album for a specific event at your post and then use the embeddable photo slideshow to embed the images in your post/district blog as well.

For more info on the new chat features,… Continue

Dan,
In re-reading my comment of December 23, 2008 it came to me that Tectrol was a "Think Tank" of the Whirlpool Corporation. I never took that job as Manhattens smothered with Barbecued steak was a bit much for a thrifty Yankee used to Curds & Whey.

Dan, Anyone from the frontier is my friend! Once upon a time I visited Benton Harbor to interview for a CS job.with *Tecktrol."
I was shown an office with my name [in gold] on the door. Met 'MY' executive secretary seated at a desk outside my office!
Enjoyed a outdoor barbeque that evening where Manhatten's were served with Steaks on a Shingle!. You will always be my best friend!
Wondering, as an engineer, about the support system used by my secretary?
Perhap you know?
