Something to consider with the proper wear of the VFW Cover....

Rules About the VFW Cover

It seems there are a lot of comments about wanting to wear ball caps and other headgear at VFW Functions. We often hear; “Well, its in the By Laws”.

 The reply ; “WHERE!!!”

In a very under read section – The VFW Ritual, General Rules, Page 3; (d) Official caps will be the only head covering allowed to be worn at regular meetings of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United…

What Happened ?

I remember growing up in a small east Texas town named Marshall. It was a grand time to be alive and growing. I couldn’t wait until I graduated high school and could get out of town and make my mark on the world.

If you had asked me what my plan was, I couldn’t tell you. I just wanted to leave the small hick town and get away from everyone where I could be free. I was also getting into…

Men's Auxiliary, soon to be a thing of the past??

I am very intrigued and concerned regarding the rumors that the Men's Auxiliary of the VFW is going to be done away with.  I know from just my state, (Colorado) and district, that the "Men's Auxiliary" is another support vessel for the Post and does great things for it.  I have heard rumors of why this is possibly taking place and honestly it makes me sick to my stomach to hear the reasons why this may be happening.  To do away with it and/or merge it with the Ladies Auxiliary take away from…

Writing a big paper about the benefits of belonging to the VFW. In need of members willing to take a 5 minute survey.

Hello! My name is Kristen. I'm a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan, and am gunning for a job helping veterans after college. I'm working on my bachelors, focusing on military personnel. Anyway, I have to administer a survey to VFW members for my final project to graduate. My post is small, so I was wondering if I could get some help from members in other areas. The survey just asks about benefits gained from being a member, five minutes max. All people would have to do is click on a link…

War Museum and MIA memorial

Good Day

I want to create a War Museum and an MIA Memorial in Memphis TN. Cannot believe we do not have one. Anyway, I am the Director of a 501-C3 and have title to the Castle in Memphis on Central Ave in Midtown. I am reaching out to see if anyone locally or wherever would assist my efforts. You can view the Caste online by google search. Ashlar Hall Memphis or The Castle Memphis. Beautiful hoe circa 1886, but in disrepair and needing a cause.

I would like to create a… Continue

Motorcyle Ride for raising funds for VFW

Has anyone ever done anything like this? And what are the rules and is it allowed? I am trying to think of new ideas to bring to the table. Especially if I am going to be the Senior Vice! I know there is a lot of work involved, safety issues, but I know it would work with a little bit of hard work!! And people who would be supporting me as well!!
