Family uniforms.

I just wanted to say hello to all. My grandfather was in the V.F.W. in L.A. He passed away a few years and always wanted me to join. The main reason that I am posting this is that I have recently come into the possession of the U.S Army uniforms from my great grandfather in WW I, my grandfather during WW II, my father during Vietnam, and my uniform from Desert Shield/Storm. I would like for people to be able to see them. I was just wondering where anyone has any suggestions.

Thank…

Military Funeral Ceremony

The point of a Military Funeral, a U.S. folded flag is presented to the next of kin. Now the question: some in our post members say the supporting group (Riflemen, Flag Barriers, Etc) are to be at "present Arms" when the Flag is being presented to the next of kin. I cannot locate this in the Manual of procedures, nor have I ever witnessed this in any process in the past.

New to VFW/problem with life member

I am new to the VFW (less than 18 months) and during this time we have made tremendous improvements to our post and our membership.  We have stopped selling alcohol because the post had a reputation for being a place that only drunks went too and the members have put in about $15000.00 of their own money to make improvements.   The problem that we are having is a life member who has been there for about 15 years. He got mad a year ago and left the post. He is now back causing problems. He…

To the Veterans of the Thomas Mihalis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1079,

Throughout all wars we enjoy many blessings that result from the sacrifices of the men and women in uniform that have risked their lives to defend our freedoms. My family has a lot of appreciation and gratitude for those who continually fight for our freedom. We would like to take the opportunity during this Christmas season to make a donation to the Veterans of the Thomas Mihalis Post 1079.…

VFW POST

How can a person stay involved in VFW affairs when the city you are in does not have an active VFW post.  The city of Montgomery is a military and college town and does not have an active auxillary.  What a person to do?

Veteran Memorials

I am trying to get local Veteran interest since the projects are to honor their service.  As a veteran I enjoy providing these services.  We create free memorial websites which can include photos, music, etc.. We also incorporate the latest technology into our memorials which allows the families to view their loved ones website from anywhere.  If you get a chance go to www.smartmemorials.com and click on the video link.
