Update on New Chat

We've been following the progress on software updates on My VFW WebCOM. The latest word is that the new chat features have been delayed slightly to February 23rd. We will also be seeing some upgrades to the embeddable players for photos and videos at that time. Don't forget, you can create a photo album for a specific event at your post and then use the embeddable photo slideshow to embed the images in your post/district blog as well.

For more info on the new chat features,… Continue

My First Meeting

My first meeting went pretty well. I called a few hours before the meeting to inquire if there had been any changes to the schedule, I then asked if I could bring a friend to the meeting that wanted to join. I was told yes. For years I have been feeling very unwelcomed in the VFW because I have never served in the service. I would have loved to serve in our armed forces overseas but was unable to due to the fact that I had medical issues.… Continue

New Chat Coming Soon

We've received word from the software folks who make My VFW WebCOM possible that there will be several improvements coming this month on the network. Some are internal, some are external. Some you won't even notice.

The biggest of these will be a major upgrade to the chat system on the network. The upgrade is tentatively scheduled for sometime around the 20th of the month (fingers crossed) but will be a major improvement.

And yes'll finally get an optional bell… Continue

My membership to/with the VFW

One of the things that I have heard most in the news and on the VFW sights is that the VFW is having a hard time recruiting and retaining VFW members. I have decided that since I am a new member of the VFW, I will share my experiance since I have joined.

Let me start out with saying I joined the VFW after I retired from the Washington National Guard. I wanted to associate with those that have served and have a sense of belonging with out the time requirements of still serving. I… Continue
