I am looking into beginning a Men's Auxililary at my wifes post and I am in desperate need of information. Does anyone know of a by-law book that is used?

I am a strong supporter of the VFW and have been looking to join but was not able to due to not being a veteran. For years I have been feeling very unwelcomed in the VFW because I have never served in the service. I would have loved to serve in our armed forces overseas but was unable to due to the fact that I had medical issues. So here I am I was approached by the Roseville, MN post Sr. Vice Ed Marz to help begin a Men's Auxililary at their post. My Gandfather served in World War II and I wish I could have followed in his footsteps, but the only way I can support his services is by beginning a Men's Auxililary.

The post will hopefully make a decision on starting a charter on Feb 17th. Until then please I would appericiate some feedback.

Hello,
When our Men's Aux started we were given a set of guidelines from our commander. It states that the newly formed chapter is to write their own by-laws. Then they have to be approved by the Post. We used by-laws from several organizations to come up with ours (SAL, Post, Marine Corp., etc.) Mostly follow the VFW. I have a set of the guidelines although they are from Dept. of Alaska VFW.

Good question these are all things iI am hoping to find out when this forms. I beleive ther should be seperate by-laws just like the womans auxiliary have there own, What iI would like to accomplish with getting this started is to make this national, but only one person can not do it alone and need the support of everyone.

Why would you not have a QM? Do you have a Treasurer instead? I do not understand how the Mens Aux by-laws are subject to the whim of the post. Something is sure wrong here.

We have by-laws that, for the most part coincide with the by-laws of our post. Of course eligiblity requirements differ, and we have no quartermaster etc... each of our officers was given a copy of the bylaws upon taking office. the Men's auxiliary bylaws are, however, subject to change per Post votes if I am not mistaken. I would get in touch with the post Commander to ensure everything is acceptable to both parties

I passed your problem on to a man that just started a mens aux. at our post. I hope he will be able to point you in the right direction.
