CIC Treadwell issued a release saying, "When the president directed more troops into Afghanistan in March, he issued a statement that said, ‘This increase is necessary to stabilize a deteriorating situation in Afghanistan, which has not received the strategic attention, direction and resources it urgently requires. The Taliban is resurgent in Afghanistan, and al Qaeda supports the insurgency and threatens America from its safe haven along the Pakistani border.’ " http://www.vfw.org/index.cfm?fa=news.newsDtl&did=5255

Excuse me? Al Qaeda threatens America? There may be a hundred or so al Qaeda in mountain caves. How would they threaten America? Besides, if there were none in Afghanistan, they could be in a half dozen other countries in the world.

The Taliban don't threaten America. They may threaten Afghanistan but that isn't American and Afghanistan was never been an ally. Why did Bush go in there? Oh ya. After Osama. He isn't there.

Why are we still in Afghaistan? There is no threat to the U.S. there. Getting bogged down costs lives, drains the ttreasury, helps al Qaeda recruit new members, and the American people want to get out. Why is it that VFW CICs tend to favor self-destructive, unpopular causes?

Now I read that another 34,000 troops uses up all our reserves in a clusterf**k which doesn't enhance our national security. Great.
