Here in Jacksonville, we just held a Homeless Veterans Resource Fair last weekend. It is sponsored by the City, with corporate partners, Veterans Organizations, the VA, and of course community partners.

The plan is to do another one in the Fall around Veterans Day.

I'd hope that Tampa would have something going on for homeless Vets too, given the population.

Pg 15 of this PDF has 4 members listed as Department Homeless veterans Support.  I am going to invite them to this blog or find out what they know and are doing.

John as much work as you do for veterans court I wish we could find someone with the same energy to help the Homelesss.  State commander Floria last year had a special project of Helping Homeless veterans.  Havn't seen much out of that mostly some inTampa Area.  We need to promote the right organization and find ways to eliminate this other one or take it over some how!!!!  Why can't national hire someone say $150.000 a year to run this program and put these other guys out of business!

The unusual letter was in response to complaints by officials with the Veterans of Foreign Wars, who are concerned that VSO is employing solicitors who claim to be volunteers, but are actually paid a commission based on the money they bring in.

Guess what they have veterans bring in the cash for them!  Veteran we brought in the front door and let them go out the back door.  Can't call the cops they are legal.....

I tell ya I beleive DAV wouldn't be established or IAVA be going around collecting CASH If the VFW wasn't more worried about there canteens a much as service to veterans.  So how do we turn around the VFW is the real questions and guys like you are what we need!  OK Gals Too!  We need to pay better and spend money.  A couple year ago a state commander told me the VFW couldn't do commercials on TV like IAVA Because they didn't have the over head we do!  I couldn't make sence of it then or now.  The VFW don't have a website systen like some of these organizations.  You listen to the folks here and you understand a bunch of old guys on the stage at the convention.  The Good old boy syndrome.  You go to the post a young guy comes in and they put him down....  I don't know how many times i heard as a commander the saying You can't do that it won't work!!!!!!  Who is bring ing them up on charges hope it is us need to read the articals again.  Watch it be IAVA!!!!
