I see your viewpoint-you homeless post. However, just for your information, If a post is not incorporated AND it has a post home or property, the property must be in the name of the trustees and to thoes who succeed the trustees AND they are the ones who purchase property (in their name). If a post is incorporated, the property is in the name of the corporation.

First-
Incorporation protects the members of the post. If you have a fund raiser and while selling something, giving Poppys, or giving out hand-outs, etc. an "outsider" slips, falls, etc due to something the post did or did not do, all members can be sued unless you are incorporated.
Second
To maintain your non-profit status, you need an EIN (tax) number to file your 990n, 990EZ, 990, or 990T, etc.
That is just two GOOD reasons. There are more but it reads like the IRS tax laws.

You know sir, i wish i could get more of my older ladies interested in the web! the way you can feel connected to others who have something in common is why so may younger generations get on facebook and myspace! It is good for all as long as we are honest! I loved your message about your wife! I would have loved to be a red cross member back then! Oh and the reason there is a chat button is because its faster to talk...only the site hides it pretty good!

Thanks for the kind words, Don! You and your fellow members of Post 8771 are the "benevolent benefactors" behind the good work these men go out and do.
I can't even say I'm along for the ride - since I had to walk the parade route!

Thanks Don! I have lived in a self-made foxhole for decades. But i have come out to honor those brothers who did not come back alive or whole, and just in time to honor the quickly fading WWII and Korean brothers (and sisters) service. I have a lot to make up. Thank you for your service Don!
and.. btw.........go Sox!

So sorry for such a long delay to your comments . . . can only say that life has been very busy of late & that isn't really an excuse at all as much as a wish to receive your pardon for such rudeness on my part. I generally only check-in on this site to see how my father fares in his mission as the next Jr. Vice Commander-In-Chief for 2011. I believe you have met him on this site: William A. Thien. Exceptional man if I do say so myself.
I was not familiar with the Orange Delight or its association to the Leukemia Society. Please accept my condolences to you for your losses. I have to say I'm a bit skeptical in regards to Antony's statement. Seems too politically driven for me. Though I sincerely love them, I cannot commit to them whole-heartedly. Clematis, Peonies & the beautiful Prince Orange Poppy are some that I find equally as bewitching. The steadfast Iris or the tenacity of the Tulip are also to be considered. I do not believe I'll ever be able to choose a favorite flower. Today it was the weedy head of Clover & tomorrow I'm sure it will be my upcoming Sunflowers. Have a wonderful day, Mr. Peirce.
