During the Vietnam era, I was stationed in Germany and received a much better welcome back home than some of my friends who had to reenter our country via the west coast.

With my own son on his third tour in Iraq, I now understand what my folks and family had to deal with. Thank goodness I can turn to my fellow comrades and sisters within the VFW family. The Ladies Aux often does not get enough recognition for their contributions. So Thank You for your service to our veterans and their families.

I was in Company B, 312th Engineer Combat Battalion, 87th Infantry Division. I turned 20, less than a month after the War ended in Europe in 1945. I will turn 84 in less than a month. I am a disabled veteran, but I still get around.
